2.02 Straighten Necessary Items

2.02 Straighten Necessary Items

Overview

The theme of the 6S Straighten activity is “A place for everything and everything in its place.”  By now, you have completed a 6S Audit and documented current target area conditions via photographs and the target area current state map.  If you have done the above tasks correctly, you will have incorporated photos, yellow sticky notes for problem areas and identified issues, and blue sticky notes for recommended solutions – all onto your target area map.  All of this work, in addition to the work you completed during the Sort activity, will now help you develop the straighten criteria for your target area.  The Straighten step will ensure that all the necessary items you have identified are in the best location and that it is obvious where that place is.

Objectives

  • Create a place for all necessary items
  • Make it obvious where that place is
  • Place items in order of use
